Forgot Password

 Purpose

The Forgot Password screen exists so that the user can re-set a forgotten password without contacting an administrator. To access this screen, the user clicks on the ‘Forgot Password?’ button on the WIR login screen. Once the user successfully enters the required information, an email is created and sent to the user’s email address on file in WIR.

The email contains a hyperlink to a Security Challenge screen in a new WIR session. If the user correctly answers the security question(s) presented, he or she is shown the user’s organization code as a link into the WIR application.

Several criteria must be met before the ‘Forgot Password’ function can be successfully used:

  1. The user status must be either ‘Active’ or ‘Disabled due to multiple login attempts'.

  2. The user must have a valid email address on file in WIR.

  3. The user must have security questions and answers on file in WIR.

Org Code

Short name for the organization to which the user is associated. Used when logging in to WIR.

Username

Name assigned to the selected user. Used when logging in to WIR.

Email Address

The email address to be used when the user receives inventory alerts and password reset links.

 Usage

Click on the box to the right of the Org Code field to position the cursor.  Enter a value for each field; all fields are required. Click on the Submit button. A successful action will give the message ‘A password reset link has been sent to the email address associated with this account.’

User is unable to enter the expected user information on the 'Forgot Password' screen.

The Org Code, Username, or Email entered is invalid. Please re-enter your user information.  

This could mean several things: one or more entered values is incorrect, your account is locked, or your email address is not on file in WIR.  Your organization's WIR administrator will need to determine the cause.

User receives a message indicating a successful action, but does not receive an email.

A password reset link has been sent to the email address associated with this account.                 

User's email address is stored in WIR, but it is not valid.  The user will have to request a password reset from the organization's WIR administrator. The user can then log in, go to Edit My User Account under Manage My Account, and update the email address to a valid value.

The user does not have security questions and answers stored in WIR.

Email is created successfully, but when user clicks on the hyperlink in the email, this message is received: 'ERROR:  No Challenge Questions have been established for the Username, Org Code combination.

Please contact your organization's administrator.'

The user will have to request a password reset from the organization's WIR administrator. As part of the first login, the user will be prompted to choose and answer security questions.

The user clicks more than once on the hyperlink generated in the email. Or, the user presses the Submit button on the Forgot Password screen more than once.

ERROR: The link selected has expired. You will be redirected to enter your user information.
